Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Doors
What types of doors do you sell?
We specialize exclusively in iron doors — exterior iron doors, interior iron doors, and fully custom special order iron doors. We carry one of the largest in-stock selections in the Atlanta area, and we also work with customers on completely custom designs built to their specifications.
Are your iron doors solid iron or hollow?
Our doors are constructed with a steel and iron frame. They are not hollow-core — they are heavy, solid doors built for security and longevity. Most of our doors weigh between 150 and 400+ pounds depending on size and configuration.
Do your doors come with glass?
Most of our iron doors come standard with insulated glass units (IGUs). Glass options include clear, rain glass, flemish, and other textured styles depending on the door model. Custom glass configurations are available on special order doors.
What finishes are available?
Our in-stock doors come in a variety of powder coat finishes including matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, and others. Custom finishes and colors are available on special order doors. All finishes are powder coated for durability.
Are your doors energy efficient?
Our standard iron doors include insulated glass units which improve energy efficiency significantly over single-pane glass. For customers in climates with extreme cold winters, we also offer thermally broken door options which feature a polymer barrier that reduces heat transfer and helps prevent condensation on the interior surface.
Purchasing & Ordering
Can I see the doors in person before buying?
Yes — we strongly encourage it. Our showroom at 5414 New Peachtree Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341 carries a large selection of in-stock doors you can see, touch, and compare in person. We are open Tuesday through Friday 9AM–4PM and Saturday 12PM–4PM. No appointment needed.
How do I order a custom door?
Contact us to start the custom order process. We will work with you on size, style, glass pattern, hardware, and finish. Custom doors typically require a deposit at the time of order. Call us at 470-289-1898 or send us a message to get started.
What is the lead time for custom orders?
Lead times for custom special order doors vary depending on the manufacturer and specifications. We will give you an estimated lead time at the time of order. In-stock doors are available immediately.
Do you ship doors?
Yes, we ship doors across the United States. Due to the size and weight of iron doors, they ship via freight carrier on a pallet. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location. Local customers in the Atlanta area are also welcome to arrange pickup at our Chamblee showroom.
Can I pick up my door at the showroom?
Yes. Local pickup is available at our showroom at 5414 New Peachtree Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341. Please contact us to coordinate pickup timing.
Installation
Do you install doors?
Vernazza Home sells doors only — we do not provide installation services directly. However, we are happy to refer you to trusted, experienced door installers in the greater Atlanta area who have worked with our products. Call us at 470-289-1898 for installer referrals.
How difficult is it to install an iron door?
Iron doors are significantly heavier than standard doors and require professional installation. We strongly recommend hiring a licensed door installer or general contractor. Proper installation is also required to maintain your warranty coverage.
What rough opening size do I need?
Rough opening requirements vary by door size and model. As a general rule, add 2 inches to the door width and 2.5 inches to the door height for the rough opening. Contact us with your specific door model and we will provide exact rough opening specs.
Warranty & Care
What warranty do you offer?
All iron doors sold by Vernazza Home are backed by our 5-Year Limited Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, including structural integrity, powder coat finish, hardware, and insulated glass unit seal failure. See our full warranty page for complete terms.
Will my iron door rust?
Surface rust can occur if the paint or powder coat finish is chipped or scratched and the bare metal is left exposed without treatment. We include touch-up paint with every door for this reason. Inspect your door regularly and touch up any chips or scratches promptly. With proper care, your iron door will last for decades. Rust from lack of maintenance is not covered under warranty.
What should I do if my door has paint chips after delivery?
Minor chips and scuffs can occur during shipping and installation — this is normal with heavy iron doors and is not a defect. Touch up any exposed metal immediately using the touch-up paint included with your door, before the door is installed. Do not leave bare metal exposed.
How do I clean my iron door?
Clean your iron door with mild soap and warm water using a soft cloth. Never use abrasive scrubbers, bleach, or chemical cleaners — these can damage the powder coat finish. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth.
